Advanced Contact Search — User Guide
Overview
Two enhanced search types are available on supported contact fields:
| Search type | Best for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-value search | Finding contacts in any of several states | California, Florida, or Texas |
| Comparison search | Finding contacts within a numeric range | Interest rate greater than 2% and less than 3% |
When you use more than one filter at the same time, the system returns contacts that match all of them.
Supported Fields
| Field | Search type | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Property State | Multi-value | Search one or more states in a single query |
| Current Rate (existing loan interest rate) | Comparison | Search by greater than, less than, equal to, or a range |
Other contact fields (name, email, phone, etc.) work as before — one value per field, with standard partial matching.
Multi-Value Search — Property State
Use this when you want contacts from any of several states.
How to enter values
Separate states with a comma or pipe:
CA,FL,TX
CA|FL|TX
Spaces around values are fine:
CA, FL, TX
Examples
| You enter | Results include contacts where Property State is… |
|---|---|
CA | California (partial match) |
CA,FL | California or Florida |
CA,FL,TX | California or Florida or Texas |
CA|FL|TX | Same as above (pipe works the same as comma) |
Matching is case-insensitive and supports partial values, so ca and CA behave the same way.
Tips
- Use commas or pipes — both work.
- You can search up to 50 states in one query.
- Do not put a comma or pipe at the end (e.g.
CA,FL,is invalid).
Comparison Search — Current Rate
Use this when you want contacts whose existing loan interest rate falls above, below, or within a specific range.
Supported operators
| Operator | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
> | Greater than | >2 — rate above 2 |
>= | Greater than or equal to | >=2.5 — rate 2.5 or higher |
< | Less than | <5 — rate below 5 |
<= | Less than or equal to | <=3.75 — rate 3.75 or lower |
| (no operator) | Equal to | 3 — rate equals 3 |
!= or <> | Not equal to | !=0 — rate is not zero |
A space after the operator is optional (> 2 and >2 both work).
Single condition examples
| You enter | Results include contacts where Current Rate is… |
|---|---|
>2 | Greater than 2 |
<5 | Less than 5 |
>=2.5 | 2.5 or higher |
<=3.75 | 3.75 or lower |
3 | Exactly 3 |
!=0 | Not zero |
Range examples (multiple conditions)
To find contacts within a range, combine conditions with a comma or pipe. All conditions must be met.
| You enter | Results include contacts where Current Rate is… |
|---|---|
>2,<3 | Greater than 2 and less than 3 |
>=2.5,<=3.75 | Between 2.5 and 3.75 (inclusive) |
>=2.5|<=3.75 | Same as above (pipe works the same as comma) |
Important notes
- Only numeric rate values are included in results. Contacts with blank, missing, or non-numeric rates (e.g. "N/A") are not matched.
- Decimal values are supported (e.g.
2.875). - You can use up to 50 conditions in one query.
- Do not put a comma or pipe at the end (e.g.
>2,is invalid).
Combining Filters
You can use Property State and Current Rate filters together. The system returns contacts that match all active filters.
| Property State | Current Rate | What you get |
|---|---|---|
CA,FL | >2,<3 | Contacts in CA or FL and rate between 2 and 3 |
TX | >=3 | Contacts in Texas and rate 3 or higher |
CA,FL,TX | <=4 | Contacts in CA, FL, or TX and rate 4 or lower |
You can also combine these with other standard contact search fields (name, email, phone, etc.) in the same search.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
| Mistake | Why it fails | Correct approach |
|---|---|---|
CA,FL, (trailing comma) | Invalid format | Use CA,FL |
>2, (trailing comma) | Invalid format | Use >2 or >2,<3 |
abc in Current Rate | Not a valid number | Use a numeric value like >2 or 3.5 |
| More than 50 values/conditions | Limit exceeded | Split into multiple searches |
| Expecting "Smith, Jr" to search two names | Commas in name fields are treated as text | Enter the full name as one value: Smith, Jr |
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I search multiple states and a rate range at the same time?
A: Yes. Use Property State for states and Current Rate for the range. Both filters apply together.
Q: Does CA,FL mean contacts must be in both CA and FL?
A: No. Within Property State, comma-separated values mean or — contacts in CA or FL.
Q: Does >2,<3 mean rate greater than 2 or less than 3?
A: No. Within Current Rate, multiple conditions mean and — rate must be both greater than 2 and less than 3.
Q: Why do some contacts not appear in my rate search?
A: Comparison search only matches contacts with a valid numeric rate. Blank or non-numeric values are excluded.
Q: Is the search case-sensitive for states?
A: No. State searches are case-insensitive.
Q: Can I use both comma and pipe in the same value?
A: Yes, they act as interchangeable separators.
Quick Reference
PROPERTY STATE — search any of several states (OR)
CA,FL,TX or CA|FL|TX
CURRENT RATE — search by value or range (AND for ranges)
>2 Greater than 2
<5 Less than 5
>=2.5 2.5 or higher
<=3.75 3.75 or lower
3 Exactly 3
!=0 Not zero
>2,<3 Between 2 and 3 (exclusive)
>=2.5|<=3.75 Between 2.5 and 3.75 (inclusive)
COMBINE BOTH
Property State: CA,FL + Current Rate: >2,<3
→ Contacts in CA or FL with rate between 2 and 3
