This is for devices using the Nextiva X-650 profile. If the you are using the VTech VSP650 profile see this article.

To provision the X-650, a handset or deskset needs to be paired to the base.  All X-650 base units come with one handset already paired to it.  If the base does not have a handset paired to it, follow the instructions in the article Connect or Disconnect a handset from the Nextiva X-650 to pair a handset to the base.

Provisioning Instructions

Nextiva has two profiles for the X-650 device.  Select a profile based on how you wish to use the device:

  • Nextiva X-650 - Multi-user profile, by default, each user is allocated a handset.  Each handset functions as a standalone phone.  Calls have to be transferred between handsets.

  • Nextiva X-650 - KeyLine - Single-user profile.  Multiple handsets are shared by one user with each call tied to a specific line key.  Calls can be placed on hold and picked up on another handset by pressing the correct line key.

  1. Press the Menu/Func. button on the deskset (Menu/Select button on the cordless handset).

  2. Navigate to Status.

  3. Select Network.

  4. Select IPv4.

  5. The following screen will display the IP Address of the device.

    • Before proceeding, ensure the MAC Address has been added to the account and the device has been assigned to a user.

  6. On a computer on the same network as the phone, open a web browser. The phone has to be on the same local network as the computer for this to work. Navigate to https://[device IP address] (i.e. https://10.1.10.127).

NOTE: If the page doesn't load and you are on the same network, you may need to enable the web interface of the device. To do this:

    2. Scroll and select Admin Settings.
    3. Enter the administrator password (the default password is 'admin').
    4. Scroll and select Security.
    5. Scroll and select Secure Browsing.
    6. Select Enabled.

  7. If prompted, the default login credentials are:

    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin

  8. Click SERVICING at the top-right.

  9. Click Provisioning on the far-left side of the screen.

  10. Remove the contents of the Server URL text box. Enter the provisioning URL based on the profile of the device.

    • Nextiva X-650: https://dm.nextiva.com/dms/Nextiva_Service_Provider/Nextiva_X650/

    • Nextiva X-650-KeyLine: https://dm.nextiva.com/dms/Nextiva_Service_Provider/Nextiva_X-650-KeyLine/

  11. Scroll down, click Save.

  12. While still logged in, on the Provisioning screen, click Reboot on the upper left side of the screen.

  13. Select the blue Reboot button in the middle of the screen. The phone should reboot and provision.

Troubleshooting

If the phone does not auto-provision, check the following:

  1. Is the MAC address correct on the account?

  2. Is the device type correct on the account?

  3. Is the Server Address entered correctly?

    • No typos.

    • No spaces at the beginning or end.

  4. Adjust the DNS Server.

    • Nextiva recommends using Google's DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
