Setup a Grandstream GXW 4200 series

This profile supports the following models GXW4216, GXW4224, GXW4232, GXW4248.

Nextiva supports Hardware V2 series ONLY and the firmware needs to be above 1.0.1.4.  For more information about hardware and firmware versions see Grandstream GXW 42xx - Firmware Guide
 

  1. Obtain the IP address of the device
     
    1. From an Analog Phone connected to the device
       
      1. Dial ***
         
      2. Enter 002
         
      3. The IP address will be announced
         
    2. From the device LCD screen
       
      1. Use the navigation arrow to select Network.
         
      2. Press OK
         
      3. The screen should display the IP Address along with additional information
         
  2. On a computer on the same network as the phone, open a web browser. The phone has to be on the same local network as the computer for this to work.
     
  3. Navigate to https://[device IP address] (i.e. https://10.1.10.127).
     
  4. Enter the administrator credentials. The default credentials are:

    Username: admin
    Password: The default password can sometimes be found on a tag on the bottom of the device. If there is no tag, use admin.
     
  5. Navigate to the Maintenance page
     
  6. Select Upgrade and Provisioning on the left-hand side of the page
     
  7. Scroll down to the Upgrade via field and select HTTPS.
     
  8. On the Config Server Path enter the provisioning URL:

    dm.nextiva.com/dms/Nextiva_Service_Provider/Nextiva_Grandstream_GXW42XX

  9. Scroll to the option Allow DHCP Option 43 and Option 66 to Override Server and turn it off by selecting No.
     
  10. Scroll down and click Save and Apply.
     
  11. Click the Reboot option at the top right of the page.

 

Grandstream Cert Update process

If your GXW 4200 series device fails to provision with a "Weak Cert" error message, you will need to update the cert on your device.

 

  1. Click here to navigate to the Grandstream cert upgrade page.

  2. Enter your MAC address(s) into the MAC Address Field.

  3. Fill out the Captcha.

  4. Click Search.

  5. Check the box next to your device MAC address.

  6. Click Select MAC address and request certificate update.

  7. If prompted, choose the New Certificate SHA384+ECDSA option.

  8. In the window that appears, enter your email address and fill out the Captcha.

  9. Click Obtain email verification code.

  10. Enter the verification code that was sent to your email into the Verification Code box.

  11. Click the OK button.

  12. You will be sent an email with additional instructions.

  13. After following the email instructions, you should be able to reprovision the device.
