A repeater is used when you need to extend the range of a handset to areas where reception was previously not available. A repeater extends the range in all directions, allowing several floors to be covered.

Registering a Repeater to the Base

You must register the repeater to the KX-TGP600 base unit before the repeater can be used. Follow the instructions below to do this.

  1. Enable repeater mode on the TGP600.

NOTE: Contact Nextiva support to enable this feature, otherwise it may be disabled when the device reboots.

  2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the repeater (Panasonic KX-A406), if it is not already.

  3. Press and hold the handset locator button on the base unit until the status indicator light flashes red, then release the handset locator button.

  4. Connect the AC adapter to the repeater.

  5. When the status light on the repeater flashes red, press and hold the PROGRAM button on the back of the repeater until the status light and the RSSI/ID light turn solid green.

  6. If the status light on the base unit is still flashing red, press the handset locator button once until the status light is solid green. The repeater is now ready for use.

Registering a Repeater to Another Repeater

Registering a repeater to another repeater allows for cascade repeaters to be set up. You can extend the range by one additional repeater with this method.  Use the steps below to register one repeater to another.

  1. Ensure one repeater is already registered to the TGP600 base unit.

  2. Check the ID of the repeater that is registered to the base.

    1. With the device powered on and connected to the base press the Program button.

    2. Note the number of times the ID indicator flashes green.  This is the ID number of the unit.

    3. Press the Program button again to return the repeater to normal operation.

  3. Plug in the new repeater.  The STATUS light should be flashing red and the ID indicator should be off.

  4. Hold down the Program button for 5 seconds until the STATUS light flashes green.

  5. Release the program button.  The STATUS light should turn solid green and the ID indicator should flash red once indicating the ID is set to 1.

  6. Press the Program button until the new repeater has the same ID as the repeater paired to the base.

  7. Hold down the Program button for 5 seconds until the ID indicator turns red.

  8. Release the Program button.

  9. The STATUS and ID indicators will turn amber for 2 seconds, then will start flashing red.

  10. On the TGP600 base unit, press and hold the handset locator button on the base unit until the status indicator light flashes red, then release the handset locator button.

  11. Once registered, the new repeater's STATUS indicator will turn solid green.

  12. Press the handset locator button on the TGP 600 to exit registration mode.
