Directed Call Pickup with Barge-In

While Directed Call Pickup allows a user to pick up a call coming into another user's extension if it has not been answered, Directed Call Pickup with Barge-In allows a user to pick up a call or join an active call by "barging in" on the phone call.

If a call has not been answered, this feature works the same as Directed Call Pickup.  If the call is active on the other user, a barge-in occurs, resulting in a three-way call between the caller, the user who answered, and the user who barged in.

Directed Call Pickup with Barge-in is different than Silent Monitoring, in that the microphone of the user barging in is not muted. To mimic Silent monitoring, users can barge in and then immediately mute themselves.

By default, all users are exempt from being barged in on, and a warning tone is played to let the user and caller know that another person has joined the call through barge-in. Nextiva Support can modify these settings if desired. Barge-in cannot be utilized on someone who has previously initiated a conference call, and a busy signal will indicate this.

This feature is not available with Meet-Me Conferencing or with N-Way Calling.

Using Directed Call Pickup with Barge-In

  1. While another user's line is ringing or their line is in use, dial *33.

  2. You will hear a stutter tone, then a dial tone.

  3. Enter the extension of the user to pick up or barge in on.

  4. You will either pick up the ringing line or barge in on the active call.
