What is Call Parking?

Call parking allows a caller to be placed on hold and picked up on a completely different line.  Nextiva has two different types of parking offered:

Orbital Call Parking: This type of call parking provides a visual indication on any phone that supports busy lamp field to show there is a call parked.  It uses park lines to hold calls.  There is a charge per park line to configure this feature.

Traditional Call Parking: This type of call parking uses the default park options within the Nextiva system, allowing a ringback to a single user or a group of users.  Depending on the model phone there may be the ability to one-touch park a call and/or have a visual indication of a parked call.  Not all phones support one-touch or visual indication.

If I am using traditional call parking, how do I park a call?

To park a call against a user:

  1. Start a warm transfer or place the call on hold and open a new line.

  2. Dial *68.

  3. Enter the extension of the user to park the call against and press #.

NOTE: To park against your own extension, just press # without entering an extension.

  4. Wait for the call to disconnect.

To park a call against a group park: The person parking needs to be part of the park group to do this.

  1. Start a warm transfer or place the call on hold and open a new line.

  2. Dial #58.

  3. Wait for the call to disconnect.

To retrieve a parked call: If the call is ringing back due to the recall timer, just answer the phone, otherwise:

  1. Dial *88

  2. Enter the extension the call is parked on and press #.

NOTE: If the call is parked on a group park or against a user's extension you can just press # without entering an extension.

I am paying for park lines, how do I park calls on them?

To park a call on a park line, blind transfer the call to an IDLE park line. Many phones can be configured to allow the park line key to be pressed to blind transfer the call.  Click here for more information.

Can I get a notification of a parked call?

With traditional call parking, audible notifications can be configured to alert both the user who parked the call, the user whose line the call is parked on, or a hunt group.  If the call is parked against a park group, the entire group can be notified of the parked call.

With orbital call parking, audible notifications are only available to the user who parked the call, and only if the call was blind transferred directly to the park line.  If using a park group or auto-park button to park calls, no audible alert can be configured, only the visual indication of a parked call on the monitored line.

Can the Poly VVX 150 use auto park?

The Auto Park functionality allows a user to press a softkey to automatically park a call on the next available park line.  The VVX 150 does NOT support BLF so it cannot monitor park lines; however, it CAN still use the auto park feature to park calls.
