Using Orbital Parking
Customers can purchase park lines that allow them to park a call and retrieve it from any device. Park lines also allow you to use Busy Lamp Field to see if a call is parked.
Setup
You will need to have the Nextiva service delivery or support team configure your park lines for you. Please reach out to our support team for help setting up the park lines.
Parking a Call
Depending on how your device is configured, there are multiple ways to place a call onto one of the park lines.
Blind Transfer
The blind transfer method works for any device model and simply requires blind transferring the call to the desired park extension. Ensure the park extension is not in use before you transfer the call.
Tap the park line key
For Nextiva-branded X-800 series desk phones, you can tap the line key for the park line to transfer the call. Ensure the park extension is not in use before you transfer the call.
The Nextiva support team can also configure Poly and Yealink devices to have this same behavior.
Auto Park
Yealink and Poly desk phones can be configured with an auto park softkey. This key will park the call on the first available park line. If no park line is available, the call will ring back to a pre-selected group of users.
Retrieve a Parked Call
To retrieve a parked call, you can either dial the extension of the park line or press the line key of the park line on your device. Once you connect with the parked call, the park line becomes available again.
Troubleshooting
Park Lines Missing
If a park line is missing on a user’s phone, make sure the user has the park line(s) selected in their Busy Lamp Field settings.
Parked Calls Dropping
Make sure you are not trying to park two callers on the same park line. If you attempt to park a call onto an in-use park line, the calls will merge and drop from the park line.
