Overview

Use this guide to install and connect the Shopify integration from the NEXT Marketplace.

The Shopify integration gives Xbert AI real-time access to your store data inside every NEXT conversation. During installation, you will authenticate using an access token generated from your Shopify custom app.

Note: A Shopify account is required to use this integration. The Shopify integration is compatible with Xbert AI only.

Before You Begin

Ensure the following:

  • You have an active Shopify store.

  • You have created a custom app in Shopify and generated an access token.

  • The custom app has at least the read_products permission scope.

  • You have saved the access token in a secure location, it is displayed only once in Shopify.

  • You have permission to install apps in the NEXT Marketplace.

Install Shopify in NEXT

Step 1: Open the App in Marketplace

  1. Select App marketplace in the left navigation.

  2. Select Shopify.

  3. Select Install.

You will see a confirmation screen titled:

You are about to add Shopify for NEXT

  1. Select the checkbox to accept the Terms and Privacy Policy.

  2. Select Next.

Step 2: Connect

On the Connect screen, complete the following fields:

Authentication type

The Authentication type field defaults to Access token. Leave this selection as is.

Access token

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.

  2. Navigate to Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps.

  3. Select your custom app.

  4. Under API credentials, copy the Admin API access token.

  5. Return to NEXT.

  6. Paste the token into the Access token field.

Important: The access token is displayed only once in Shopify. If you did not save it, you will need to regenerate it from your custom app.

Shop Name

Enter your Shopify store name in the following format:

https:// shopname .myshopify.com/admin

Enter only the store name portion in the field — for example, if your store URL is https://acme.myshopify.com/admin, enter acme.

Custom OAuth profile

Leave this set to No items unless your organization uses a custom OAuth profile. If required, select an existing profile or create a new one using the links provided on screen.

After completing all fields, select Connect, then select Next.

Installation Complete

If the access token and shop name are valid, you will see the Review screen confirming the installation is complete.

Select:

  • Done to exit, or

  • Manage apps to review the integration.

Verify the Connection

After installation:

  1. Select App marketplace in the left navigation, then select Manage apps.

  2. Select Shopify.

  3. Confirm the status shows Active.

  4. Initiate a test interaction in NEXT that involves a Shopify order or customer lookup.

  5. Confirm the data appears correctly.

Troubleshooting

Invalid access token

  • Confirm you copied the full token without any extra spaces.

  • Verify the token was generated from the correct Shopify custom app.

  • If the token was not saved when first generated, regenerate it in Shopify and reconnect.

Insufficient permissions

  • In Shopify, confirm the custom app has at least the read_products permission scope.

  • Add any additional scopes required for the features you want to use, then regenerate the token and reconnect.

Shop name not recognized

  • Confirm the shop name matches the subdomain in your Shopify store URL exactly (for example, acme from acme.myshopify.com).

  • Do not include https:// or .myshopify.com/admin in the shop name field.

Integration status not showing Active

  • Return to App marketplace → Manage apps and check if the connection shows an error state.

  • Select Shopify and re-enter the access token and shop name.

  • Reconnect the integration.
