Record an Auto Attendant Greeting from a Phone

Recording Greetings

Record announcements for the business and after-hours menu of your Auto Attendant from any phone. First, build out your auto attendant.  Once it’s set up, you can record a greeting from either your Nextiva phone or a non-Nextiva phone.


From a non-Nextiva phone

  1. Ensure the option Allow Extension Dialing During Greeting is enabled within the Auto Attendant settings.

  2. Dial your main Nextiva phone number assigned to the Auto Attendant.
     
  3. At any time during the Auto Attendant greeting, dial 9999.

  4. At any time during the initial voice portal greeting, press the * key. 

  5. When prompted for the mailbox ID, dial 9999.
     
  6. Enter the passcode followed by #.

    NOTE: The default passcode is 0000.
     
  7. Press 1 to change the Auto Attendant greeting.

    NOTE: If there are multiple Auto Attendants on your account, you will be prompted to enter the Auto Attendant ID (the extension of the Auto Attendant where you are recording a greeting).
     
  8. To change the business hours greeting, press 1. To change the after-hours greeting, press 2.  For a full list of the options available in the menu, click here.
     
  9. Press 1 to record a new greeting.
     
  10. Start recording after the tone. Press # to end recording.

    XBert Tip: Call the Auto Attendant and listen to the greeting to ensure proper configuration.


 


From a Nextiva phone

  1. Dial 9999.
     
  2. At any time during the initial greeting, press the * key.
     
  3. When asked for the mailbox ID, dial 9999.
     
  4. Enter the Auto Attendant passcode (0000) followed by #.
     
  5. Press 1 to change your Auto Attendant greeting.

    NOTE: If there are multiple Auto Attendants on your account, you will be prompted to enter the Auto Attendant ID (the extension of the Auto Attendant where you are recording a greeting).
     
  6. To change the business hours greeting, press 1. To change the after-hours greeting, press 2.  For a full list of the options available in the menu, click here.
     
  7. Press 1 to record a new greeting.
     
  8. Start recording after the tone. Press # to end recording.
