Set Up Group Paging

Article 000003814 · Updated Oct 9, 2025 · 5,146 views
Group Paging enables a user to page a predefined group of users by dialing a paging group number or extension, like a group intercom.  This call is auto answered on speakerphone and cannot be rejected, unless the line is already in use.

    • Caller ID First Name - The first name shown when calling this extension.

    • Caller ID Last Name - The last name shown when calling this extension.

    • Phone Number - OPTIONAL. Set a DID for the group.

    • Extension - Set an extension for the group.

    • Time Zone - The time zone used for reporting purposes for calls placed to/from this page group.

    • Calling Line ID - What will display when doing a group page.

    • Confirmation Tone Sending Timeout - Time before paging starts. If doing a large group of users (more than 20), it is good practice to increase this to ensure all users receive the page.

    • Originators - Users who are allowed to start the page.

NOTE: There is a limit of 100 users for originators.

    • Targets - Users who will receive the page.

      NOTE:
There is a limit of 100 users for targets.  While Nextiva will allow up to 100 users to be paged, having that many users may cause network issues, depending on how much traffic your network can handle at one time.

Using Group Paging

To use Group paging, a user listed as an originator in the paging group dials the extension of the paging group. The originating user will hear a message stating “Paging System Ready,” and target users will hear a message stating “Paging.” After these messages, all further communication through the originator’s phone is relayed through the speakerphone of the targets’ phones. When the originator has finished their announcement, they can hang up the phone to end the page.

Group Paging communication is one-way, and no response from the targets will be delivered to any phone in the paging group.
